  1. Call to order – Meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm by Denis.
  2. Minutes of the previous meeting – Motion for adoption by Lee, seconded by Janet & approved by exec. Thanks to Lee for taking minutes in Scott’s absence.
  3. Approval of the agenda – Approved with a few additions.
  4. Business Arising from Minutes

a)      Speakers – Lee Beavington on “Nature as Teacher” at next meeting.

b)      Camp River Wildlife Area – Sammy Penner, BC TNT, has new crew starting May 1st. Denis and Janne will go out and meet her at Camp River to talk about planting.

c)      Facebook Post Formatting – Scott described how he does it by formatting the message along with pictures in MS Word and then converting the document to a JPEG image file which is then uploaded to the CFN Facebook page.

d)      World Migratory Bird Day – Does CFN want to organize this for May 12th? Members concluded they are too busy to organize. The Great Canadian Birdathon is going for the month of May. Maybe we can organize a birding day on 20th or 22nd of May (that’s what works for Janne)?

e)      Bird Brochure – Pamphlet for local bird identification, possibly followed by others on plants, butterflies, dragonflies if it’s successful. We can get the pamphlet template from Langley Field Naturalists. We need to talk to Jude Grass who is familiar with the pamphlet.

  1. New Business

a)      Hope Slough Canoe Tour – Held on April 29th. Organized by Watershed Watch. Denis provided feedback to the organizers to make the outing successful and not disturb the birds, especially because it’s nesting season.

b)      Publicity – Website up and running with 98 “hits” in April. Website is updated with all our events. Newsletter will come out in June.

c)      BC Nature – Janne received the agenda for the directors meeting and reported on other items for the upcoming BC Nature AGM. The CFN Harrison Camp, organized by Janne, is open for registrations.
