Reifel Bird Sanctuary

October 21, 2018

Reifel proved to be a very popular trip with over a dozen CFN members participating. 49 species of birds were observed with black-crowned night herons putting in an appearance just as we were leaving. Amanita muscaria, a bright red poisonous mushroom was a favourite with the photographers among us. Other notable waterfowl were gadwall, Northern pintails and pied-billed grebe. The tall lesser sandhill cranes that managed to raise one colt for the first time in 10 years and the peregrine falcon pleased the crowd.
