Vedder Mountain Trip
Sunday, September 27,2015
Leader Denis Knopp met us at the Rotary Trail and we carpooled to the head of one of the many Vedder Mountain Trails. The going was a little tough at first with overgrown blackberries but soon we were in a gorgeous West Coast Forest with giant Western Red Cedar, sword ferns and salal. Denis showed us a red-backed salamander and tall bugbane, a listed plant. Many mushrooms adorned the pathways and on one a native banana slug munched. After a good workout on the trails, shared by mountain and dirt bike enthusiasts, six happy naturalists found a welcome cup of coffee at Garrison Crossing.
